Food waste
Project type
Branding and identity, animation
Date
2026
The food waste project aimed to let residents of the borough of Havant know that new food waste collections would soon be introduced.
Following demographic research, we determined that the campaign should be targeted toward disengaged younger adults, as well as children, who often attempt to engage their parents in environmental topics they can get involved in.
Based on this, we designed the "I love leftovers" campaign, focusing on a sentient food waste bin and leftover foods, who find their match in each other. A cute graphic style is used, which takes inspiration from kawaii trends popular with younger people. The cute campaign is visually distinct from the approach other councils had taken for their own simultaneous food waste campaigns, and puts a fun spin on food waste collection with its bold, eye-catching designs.
This project was created in collaboration with fellow Havant Borough Council graphic designer Erin Dodd.
